The high-pressure piston compressor is the definitive choice above 40 bar. Rotary screw technology is not economically viable above this threshold. If your process requires 100, 200 or 300 bar, the piston machine is not one option among several — it is the correct answer.
Below 40 bar, the decision depends on duty cycle and air quality requirements. For continuous production lines running at 70–80% capacity or higher, rotary screw offers lower noise and better energy efficiency. For intermittent or variable-demand high-pressure applications, and wherever ultra-high pressure is required, the piston machine delivers unmatched reliability.
